Scabs on my bald scalp

I'm 73 and for a few years have had cradle-cap like scabs on my head. Each takes several weeks to grow, then drops off. My doctor tells me they are caused by yeasts growing on the head. (If I must be bald, why can't I have one polished like a billiard ball?!).
Several ointments and lotions have been pretty useless.
In the past I've had the largest ones frozen but would like to know if that treatmment causes that area to be immune for the future..

You have seborrhea.

If you had hair it would show as dandruff. Ask your chemist for an antifungal cream and use it daily. Wash your head with anti-dandruff shampoo (daft as it seems) twice a week.

DO NOT use any form of moisturising cream whatsoever, so wear a hat in the sun - preferably a panama type hat that allows your scalp to breathe without swaddling or irritating it, or cause it to sweat.

I am also 73 and have the same complaint as you Segilla, and I thought it was caused by the hair jel I use. I asked my GP for advise and he prescribed `Ketopine` 2% w/w Shampoo which I found did the job, and still does. Do take Ethels advise about the straw hat, she`s a jem.
Sorry.......Gem....It is late after all.

TKS Ethel and shylock 73. I've bought a preparation from Boots and will give it a try.
Niozoral was on`sale too, the`same name, (but`maybe a different formula) that I used 10 or more years ago.

I tried a preparation from Boots for 6 weeks which has worked well, but it needs lifelong use by the looks of things.
