Where are The Zutons from?

I was just wondering where in the UK The Zutons come from? Recently I was at "Splendour in The Grass" in Byron Bay, NSW, Australia and the leader singer was talking to the crowd and asked who was from Wales. Me being the only person & too far back for them to notice, he then settled for any cheers from England.
Just thought it was odd that they hadn't been given a wrap on any Local Welsh music sites, if they are Welsh that is?!?

That's people from Liverpool.

In addition, a lot of Liverpudlians have Welsh connections / family backgrounds.
