My partner and i moved into our house approx 8 months ago, but the mortgage is only in my partners name, this is because i have a bad credit history. I now want my name added to the mortgage for security if anything should happen, how do i do this without the mortgage company running a credit check on me??

You can't with most main stream lenders. You will also need their approval to change the land registry entry to joint ownership.

I agree with Loosehead.  I think your options are:  lead a financially blameless life for a few years, in order to restore your credit rating, then ask your partner to put the house and mortgage in joint names.  (or).  If you are married to your partner, there is something called a "charge" you can register against the property which would stop your partner selling it without your knowledge.  You need to ask a solicitor.  (or) Ask your partner to make a will leaving the house to you.  (You will be liable for inheritance tax.)
