Changing career

I've been nursing for 10 years now and am desperate to leave this career behind me and do something different, but I can't afford to take a massive pay cut. Any suggestions as to what I could do?

I've worked at various contract research organisations (CROs) which undertake studies for big and small pharmaceutical companies.  THere are lots of jobs which are suitable for nurses and indeed i met a lot of ex-nurses using their medical knowledge in various jobs for usually better pay.  Often they work as trial monitors - these people have contact with general practices who are part of the trial, dealing with any problems, teaching the practice members what they need to know about the drug and trial. there are other posts too that you can work in "clinical trial associates" "(clinical) research nurses".

Some examples of CROs are Quintiles, Covance, I3statprobe, and there are lots of others, just search on google.

GOd i sound like a recruiter!  I'm not a nurse but this is a good sector to work in, the money and conditions are good and there's lots of scope for career advancement if you want it. good luck.
