I have kept a deposit in a protection scheme during the time a tenant has rented my property. At the end of the contract, the tenant owes me a lot more than is in this deposit. Where do I stand legally in making up the difference from her?

How much extra is it about the deposit sum? Is it an amount worth pursuing in court?

Thanks- that's a really good website but I think my problem may be more specific. Have also got in touch with the deposit scheme to ask their advice so fingers crossed it'll be sorted. It's annoying cos it's a substantial amount of my finances considering i'm on quite a low income at the moment, but probably not enough to warrant a court procedure. Hey ho, we all live and learn don't we?! Grrr
