Given the differences between the two superpowers during and directly after World War II, was the Cold War inevitable? What are the three main causes of the Cold War and with whom does responsibility lay for the onset of the Cold War?

The spread of communism; puppet governments in Eastern Block countries ordered by the USSR; and the build up of nuclear weapons. The US used Turkey as a missile base and the USSR used Cuba. Although this is probably not what you're asking.
