Dog ate cannabis

My daughters boyfriend dropped some cannabis resin last night ( about size of 2p peice) The dog I think has found it and eaten it. He is acting very weird and been sick just once - Is this harmful (like chocolate) do Iwait for nature to take its course or get him to the vets now?

I would ring the vet. You could do it without saying who you are - just ask their advice.
I doubt very much if they would notify the police (especially as it was such a small amount).
I found this on a vet site:
"A small amount of pot and the dog may become sleepy one minute, then excitable the next. The dog's heart rate and temperature will typically drop; it will have dry mouth and will dribble urine.
Most dogs can "sleep off" a small amount of pot. But dogs that get well into a stash may require fluids and warming, and will have to eat activated charcoal to offset the high."

From another vet site (I would watch out for the 'aggressive' bit):
"Cannibis is derived from the dried leaves and flowers of the plant Cannabis sativa or hemp. Toxicity in dogs is usually as a result of ingestion rather than passive inhalation of smoke.
Signs include weakness, ataxia (especially hind limbs), drowsiness, dilated pupils, sensitivity to light, urinary and fecal incontinence. Behavioural changes include aggression agitation and barking
Treatment consists of preventing further absorption of the drug by gastric emptying and the use of intestinal absorbents. Supportive treatment is then given. Fatal outcomes are rare."
As he has been sick and ate the stuff last night then obviously he has absorbed/got rid of everything in his stomach by now. It will probably work through his system so he may have the runs later on.
