i did not know where to post this, but i have just been given a nice shirt, the label says "dry clean only" which is inconvenient as i do not pass ant dry cleaners in my daily routine, not to mention expensive. so what would happen if i put it in the washing machine? what would be the best temp. it is made from 65% polyester and 35% viscose

depends how much you love the shirt because you try this at your own risk!!. That fabric mix should be okay hand washed in cool water with stergene or other delicate fabric product unless it has fancy buttons or embellishments which might be the reason for the dry clean instructions. The other catch might be any stiffening, shouders or collar which might not with stand water. squeeze out in a towel and dry flat then cool iron

does the dry cleaners start to sound like a good idea???

londondave - Over the years, I've washed many polyester & viscose garments by hand & they've been fine. Some companies put 'dry clean' on them to cover themselves. Personally I'd give it a try - if it shrinks you can blame me!
So how did it go then londondave?
