If a job is advertised with applicants are required to provide an enhanced disclosure, what does this actually entail. The job is working for the NHS by the way.

as I understand it, it can be expensive can't it? I am hoping the NHS would help with the cost of this?
Normally the employer pays the cost of a CRB check.

Thanks for that madsteve. I will certainly have a look at this site.
yes the nhs(employer) woud pay if you got the job.
it will entail you filling out a form and providing a copy of your passport/ photo id, them sending it all off, and you getting a certificate back. It takes some time so if you are successfull, you will probably start work, but not have access to vulnerable individuals or priveliged info till it comes back clear.
if it dosent come back clear, you will be asked to leave
Like bednobs says, it involves an investigation of all data about you to see if you are a criminal or a paedophile. It tends to take a while to come though so you could be in work pending its outcome, depending on your role.

thank you all for your advice.
The NHS will definitely pay for your CRB check and it generally only takes a few weeks. It is routine.
