is it true that when contractors are demolishing houses they should have the fire brigade there as somebody told me they should be there dampening the dust

All powders in a confined enviroment can be explosive.  For example, flour mills have to be extremely careful.  However, the Fire Brigade do not need to attend houses being demolished.

Simple answer is No. I was a firefighter for 14 years and never once went to a demolition.
