How do car outside temperature guages work? Why are they not affected by engine heat or wind chill? Where is the sensor located?
Thanks in advance

Most sensors are located behind/inside the front bumper and some on the exterior mirrors
or behind the front grille on some models
There not affected by wind chill or engine heat as they are situated as above, away from heat and shrouded from wind chill.

They can give a false reading if they are behind the bumper, the engine is running and the car is stationary.
