What is the best way to prevent new leather shoes rubbing at the heel? I think I remember hearing that rubbing vaseline on the shoe helps? All (sensible) suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.

Definitely Vaseline.

Are the shoes leather? If so, pop in to a cobblers/shoe repair shop and ask them for some stretching spray. It works really, really well if you spray it on the inside and wear them immediately, even around the house.
Hi Shivvy,

Compeed do a range of things that help with preventing blisters and corns. I've tried them and they are really good.

stuff damp newspaper in your shoes, rub vaseline in them, or if you have shoe stretchers leave them in overnight

Thanks for those great answers.
How do I use the vaseline? Will it not stain the shoe/leather? Or do I use it on the inside?
take them off
On the inside of course, I dunno!!!!!!!
Rub some "dry" soap on the heels of the shoes.
