I often feel travel sick at the best of times, but will soon be cruising on a massive ship for the first time. I know people say you don't feel anything move, but other people have told me that occasionally if waters are rough you can feel sick. Can anyone recommend a good tablet to take for sea sickness...... not sure if my Boots travel pills which I take for flying will be strong enough! TIA

For me, crystallised ginger (which I love anyway) is 100% effective. I used to get travel sickness on a boating lake but I've used crystallised ginger on a particularly nasty cross-channel crossing (on which several people were injured by being thrown out of their seats and one person died from a heart attack) with complete effectiveness. Nearly all of the crew were sick but my old-fashioned solution did the trick.

For a summary of the alternatives, see the NHS Direct website:

My own experiences (before I discovered crystallised ginger) are that the antihistamines are the most effective but I know people who prefer the hyoscine patches.

Stugeron tablets - I once went on a ferry overnight to Jersey, it was the worse night of my life. Ive never experience seasickness like it, along with hundred of others.
We were told by locals that Stugeron tablets were the best tablets for seasickness.
I havent been on a boat since, so I cant say for sure that they are the best., but they have worked for me when Ive been traveling on coaches.
Hope they work for you.
Hi - I absolutely agree with the crystalised ginger recommendation. I am (was) a rubbish sailor, on any kind of craft in any conditions.... since then I just take a big bag of ginger and nibble away - apart from anything else, it's delicious and I've not had motion sickness at all since using it. Have a good time Dollie.
My son is travel sick often & a friend recommended the homepathic remedy Nux Vomica (Boots, Holland & Barrett) - it works a treat on school trips (those bumpy coaches!) and I've tried it myself as well with complete success.
What about those elasticated bands you can put around your wrists. I used them for my daughter and it worked. No medication, so that sounds good. You whould be able to buy these from any travel shop.

I am not sure of the other people's experience about this.
