I can't stand lettuce because to me it tastes bitter, but everyone else I've spoken to just thinks it tastes like water. Is there anyone else out there that it tastes bitter to, or do I just have abnormal taste buds?

i thnk that might depend on the type of lettuce as to me they have different tastes, also how they are grown makes a big difference
Is it every type of lettuce (how many have you tried)?
Definitely depends on the type of lettuce - eg Hearts of Romaine , Iceberg and Cos can be bitter.

Try
I find lettuce, olives and fresh tomatoes bitter but I can eat ketchup, tinned tomato soup, margarita pizza etc., probably because there's added salt.

I'm convinced I'm a 'supertaster'. For example, mushrooms taste like garden soil to me (I don't eat garden soil! I've accidentally put my finger in my mouth after doing the weeding). I find it fascinating that people can just pick up a mushroom and pop it in their mouth.

I find fresh coffee very bitter (I can only drink the dreadful freeze dried stuff with half a cup of sugar).

Most disappointingly, I really don't like the taste of alcohol. If I try to drink a spirit, even if it's only a tiny sip, it makes me want to gag! Most spirits just taste like hairspray (again, I don't drink hairspray...). I can't relate to the enjoyment of beer at all - I I think few people can relate to my aversion to it. I was very please when alcopops were invented!

I don't like certain types of leaves as they taste bitter to me.

I do like iceberg though am more likely to eat it with something like salad cream on unless it's hidden in a sandwich.

I have far more of a sweet tooth and can't drink spirits like gin as they're so bitter.
I also find some lettuces bitter also I have found I cannot eat iceburg lettuces as they give me awful heartburn. sounds silly but its true.
Tastes bitter to me too, particularly the purple variety, think it's called Lollo Rosso. The only salad greens I can eat is Rocket, which has a slightly nutty taste.

Every type of lettuce I've tried tastes like it (although I probably haven't tried that many to be honest).

I did wonder about the supertaster thing, but I doubt I am one because I actually love things like cabbage and sprouts, and I can drink alcohol fine. The only thing from that list that I can't stand is coffee - if I have it I have to have loads of sugar and milk, so basically it's like tea with just a hint of coffee. Pointless I know lol.

I also hate drinking water unless it's flavoured. Tastes horrible. I can't stand tap water or bottled.
Try getting a bag that got the different things in it, like a bistro style, then it has beetroot which is sweet, mix up a bit, or try adding coriander to any salad, thats lovely, or the peppery ones if you like it a bit spicy...
