If we had a *skillsbank* what skills do you have and what do you need doing ?

For example, I can sew, cook and am getting quite handy at cat sitting but am useless at anything requiring step ladders or singing in tune.... Does anyone fancy sorting out that really annoying crack in my ceiling ? You will be paid in (exceedingly moreish) cheese scones....

God knows, i know nothing of cars. Think they just saw me coming. What makes it wi#iorse is that my car is only worth 1200 any way. If i'd have known the clutch was gonna go after forking out on the mot, i would have just got a different car.
I can make clothes, plaster, paint houses(exterior and interior), replace roof tiles, sort problem plumbing, change brake pads, make furniture, write peoms/stories, cook, interior design, repair broken electrical appliances and toys, grow peas, cut & colour hair, forge signatures/letters, paint pictures, kidnap cats, hang interior doors-single handed, make films, read your mind, counsel you, repair your old mechanical clock or watch, play cannon & fur elisa, can crochet too. What I can't do - I've never made an edible cake (tried a banana & peanut butter one just yesterday), I can't understand pc problems, I can't deal with paperwork or organise sh*t. And I can't edit my text.
rcl1 I really hope you didn't go to Kwick Fit for an MoT. They failed mine last year and quoted me 270 for the job. I took my car to another garage for another MoT and it passed. I only use independent garages now.

Boogie - brilliant set of skills there... I am most impressed at being able to *forge signatures*....*kidnap cats* and *read my mind*..... pmsl...

my skills is Spending sensibly and save alot..

i can teach people how to spend sensibly. :)

(i.e. only buy things you NEED,not WANT). Also shop around!!

PMSL @ boogie -class skills -wish i had thought of them lol !!

Whitebear -thats a skill i have honed over the years and now I dont blo0dy have to i still can help it -help !!!
White Bear is right ..shop around ..
for everything and haggle...even in the
big stores ...there is a credit crunch !!!
fao boogie, unfortunatly the garage i used to use closed down and ended up taking it to 'peoples' think th #e majority of the bill was labour costs. Won't be going there ever again. Found a new garage now on recommendation and they have given it the once over (for free) and told me that all seems ok. They were slightly worried though cause my boot doesnt open and this apparently is one of the key points for my mot. Oh well, it has a pass so i am certaintly not taking it back to peoples. There work may be good but the labour cost is disgusting.
yes, im very good at saving money.

i taught myself to buy things i only NEED not WANT.
i once saw something i really WANT, i didnt buy it though cos i didnt really need it so i left it for one week or two then ... ive forgotten about it!! when the sales comes around (3-4 months time)... 75% off!! so i bought it hahaa.

if anyone wants help not to spend ask moi, im an expert!!

Whitebear I challenge you (and anyone else) to a thrift competition. Should start another thread, but why buy toilet rolls when the kids can bring them home from school? Beat that..
Question Author
Great idea Whitebear and Boogie... I might just do that (start a thread on *money saving tips*) lol
well I can pretty much turn my hand to anything, I've been an IT engineer for several years so can sort out most computer and network issues, I'm quite happy to repair cars and take engines apart, I used to be a domestic appliance engineer, so can fix your washing machine if it breaks, I know haw to use most metal working equipment (lathes etc) so can often make a part to fix something rather than buy it...

but most importantly for this ceiling repair based question...

I'm 6"6' so ladders aren't normally needed!
I am really bloody fantastic at picking the wrong men!

I should write a book... !
Chuck, will you marry me??? lol
Sara. You and me, let's write a book!
NB: the previous answer did not of course have any bearing to my marriage proposal to chuck.
Question Author
LOL Chuck - so how many cheese scones do I need to make to tempt you into my lair (oops, sorry, mean home) to sort out my ceiling.... only joking, mate, but if I was 20 years younger ....lol

Awww, poor Sara... Actually, your book could become a best seller !
max - deal!

What a lovely thread. It was a pleasure reading everyone's business. lol

Boogie and Chuck, I'm so impressed. If ever you need a job contact me.
