Dog Aggressive

We have recently (last week) got a rescue dog. We were told that she is very friendly and good with other dogs (her as 7 day assessment backed this up). However we have noticed whilst out on walks she and when meeting people she can be dog-aggressive and tend to snap her teeth and make noises at other dogs. She is fine with people though and is soft as anything.

I think she may just be trying to protect her new territory as she was not like this before. And when our friends came over with their dog she soon settled down and they played lovely together for hours.

Does anyone have any suggestions. I have booked training for her - the course starts in about a month.
Thanks

It very clear the dog watched too much television in her last home and wasn't allowed to socialise with other dogs and people. Also, it sounds like wrestling was her favourite show.
I would suggest that you go back to the rescue organisation for advice. They will be as keen as you are to make the placement work.
We had a rescue German Shepherd and she was exactly like that at first, as you say, I think they do protect their new territory. She settled down after a couple of weeks and behaved beautifully for the rest of her 14 years.
