Do a google using the search string 'lge levels' - you may be better placed to interpret the results as you know who gave you this information and why you were tested for it.

I was curious as to what IgE levels were so thanks to google I've found out that it is;

'immunoglobulin E.'  "The class of antibodies produced in the lungs, skin, and mucous membranes and responsible for allergic reactions."

I'd have a chat with your Doctor and ask him/her to expain what it means, and how you can lower the levels.

Good Luck

IgE levels are an indicator of how allergic your bodies responses are.  The higher your IgE levels, the more likely you are to show allergic responses.  You can't lower this number, it's not like cholesterol.  but prolonged exposure to allergens could increase this number.  To explain, if you had a low IgE count but were to be exposed to a well known allergen (such as a room mates pet rats), for a prolonged period of time, it is possible that your IgE levels would increase, so you could develop an allergy to rats, which wasn't previously seen. Can't remember what my number was, it was so long ago, but I have moderate allergic reactions to dust, animals, non precious metals and one or two other oddities.  A new employer did an IgE blood test just to check my likely level of reaction (as my job would have involved some contact with animals).  Why were your IgE levels tested?  Basically it will indicate the likelihood of an allergic reaction, but of course, you may never come into contact with whatever it may be that would cause this reaction.  Sorry if this isn't clear.  Hey weaza....wouldn't it be hilarious if you were allergic to massively expensive football teams?  Or sauve european managers?  Or chelsea buns!! (Ok, I'll stop).

Oh jills, I have just had a horrible thought... after reading your post, I came up with a rash; I think I am allergic to crap jokes!! No but seroiusly, I had a blood test as I had an allergic reaction and they wanted to know what caused it. Only tested for the usual and found out b*gger all; but apparently the tests did show I had high IgE levels. Atleast now I know what they are. Thanks all!
