Not far off with the Cookie Monster - the version that everyone remembers (myself included) was performed on an episode of The Muppet Show, but the person who had a chart hit with it (yes, really) was an Italian bandleader called Piero Umiliani. Apparently.

It appears to be spent "manah manah". I seem to recall it was sung by 'Animal' the drummer muppet.
