I bought some hollyhock plants in pots around 12" high a few weeks back but since putting them in the ground a lot of the leaves have yellowed and one of the plants has died back to almost nothing. I have fed and watered them so is there something else I should be doing ( I have also pelleted against slug attack )

Hollyhocks are very susceptable to rust so this could be your problem. The leaves will yellow but also have a slight red spotting. You can buy a spray for protection against this from the garden centre.

Thanks for that. At this stage I don't think it's rust as there are no spots and the one plant has completely died back to the basal shoots. Anyway, never say die, I will persevere
