my father in law bakes bread to keep himself occupied so we often get a free loaf.

its about the same price as a litre of diesel!

is ok for toast ..I used to buy Warburtons
seeded batch but's now 1.65 a loaf ...
if the price of fuel and wheat goes down (i'm
having a laugh !!) will the price of bread ???
We'll just have to use our loaf to find some cheaper bread then. Think Tesco's own brand is about 35p a loaf!
Tesco cheap bread is vile ...looks grey ..
and smells funny ..it goes off in a day ....
I agree with you on that one....Tesco cheap bread does go off in a day.......... the day you buy it
I can't believe a shop near me is still selling 2 loaves of kingsmill for 1, I'm sure it won't last much longer though lol

I've noticed a big jump in price for rice as well!
All the staple diet food's gone up - rice, pasta, bread. I bought some single baking potatoes recently, and nearly died when I got to the checkout - 3-odd!!!!!
Give it another 5 years and the Cambodians will be sending us food parcels

They're named 'the new brownbirds'!

Ur turn for the dungeon
That is shocking ice!! But we cant win, can we? Even if we shop around for the bargains, it costs a fortune to cook it!

I read someone say recently 'its all well & good Jamie Oliver showing us how to feed 4 on 5, but it'll soon cost 10 to cook it'
Bread will last longer in the fridge...if u can spare the room for it.

I finished off my chinese eggs with creme caramel and merangues.....

Wonder where the next eggs will come from?
I was having a debate with someone today, about the price of various means of central heating. We have oil fired CH, but also open fires, which're lovely in the winter. My friend said that she was wondering whether to have her gas fires taken out, and log-burning things put ion instead, because her last gas bill was so horrendous. people might HAVE to revert back to cheaper ways of heating their homes - and that goes for cooking, as well. Better stock up on barbie fuel!!!!!
I pay for my gas/electric combined & got 330 'over payment' refunded plus my monthly DD was reduced by 29! I'm scared to celebrate my new wealth though coz they'll probably put it up 59 by the new year!
Ice, our village doesn`t have gas so we are all on oil, the company who supply my oil have put the DD payments up by 25 a month

luckily for me the driver is partial to a bung and is going to fill my tank up for 250 cash in hand next time
Blimey Elvis!!! Send him to me!!!!
lol, I`m debating whether to open up our fireplace and have a log burning fire, you can bet ya bottom dollar if I do the prices of logs will treble

Good idea, elvis, but the way to avoid the almost certain rising cost of wood is to get your wood for free. We know some people who own a wood, so we can luckily get our wood for free. I do realise that not everyone is so fortunate, but you can strike lucky if you ask to empty out skips of wood which you see on building sites. I have done this a few times (with full permission of course) and have been told that I am doing them a favour by taking it all away as they do not have to have the skip emptied so often. You often see broken pallets in them.

The downside of this is that you have to break up the wood yourself, and then transport it. You know what they say about wood. It keeps you warm twice, once when you cut it, and again when you burn it.

Don't know where to get free gas and oil from though..sorry.
