Have been swarmed by black fly on my plants particularly my clematis and strawberries the last few days, can anyone suggest a cheap, environmentally friendly way to get rid of them without harming the plants

Any help appreciated

a bazooka, strategically aimed, should do the job
No doubting Spam's suggestion would clearly solve the problem instantly, you could try spraying with warm water and washing up liquid. The liquid breaks down the protective waxy coating on the fly and it dies of dehydration.
Try washing up liquid, well diluted, in a squirty bottle. They really don't like it and it doesn't do harm to the soil.
Or I just looked on the net.....if you steep citrus peel in boiling water, cool and then squirt...Good luck
