Hmmm, i am feeling lucky tonight.
I wanna perm some numbers on the lotto.
Not sure where to ask this, but there is always a clever guy hanging round in here.
I wanna perm numbers 35 through to 48, as 3 number hot picks.
Anyone know how much this will cost me?
Also, can anyone tell me how to work out my own perms.
There might be something in it for you if i win...

Not really big wins, just a few hundred here and there on poker. Love life is same as always :(
MrBen5 . . . . well if you want to use ALL the numbers from 35 to 48 in sets of three - there are in total 14 numbers. To permutate them into groups of three will require this . . . .

14x13x12x11x10x9x8x7x6x5x4x3x2

= 87,178,291,200 groups of three
looks like its 10 lucky dips then dafty ???

Yeah but surely that number decreases significantly due to the fact that it doesnt matter what order they are in? :(
Question Author
I have worked out that with 5 numbers, there are 10 perms of 3 numbers. I will have to see if i can master a spreadsheet up and work it out.
cheers anyway.
Could that be why you dont win on the lotto ?
sir prize ...how much will that perm
cost ??
theonlyone - that perm cannot be entered. It is a permutation of any 3 from 14. The UK National Lottery requires groups six numbers. And as MrBen rightly says, the number of entries would in fact be significantly reduced as the numbers may be placed in any order.

I won 450 on saturday from a 3 number hotpick.
So as i figure, i was gonna do some 3 number hotpicks in the late thirties and forties(as these seem to be the most common).
I may be taking a risk, but if it only costs me for example 100 to win 450, it might be worth it...
Question Author
I have sossed it out. :) .See below if anyone else is thinking of doing it.
www.mathagonyaunt.co.uk/STATISTICS/ESP/Perms_combs.html

It will only cost me 120 to perm 10 numbers of 3. With a payback of 450 per perm :)
I will let you all know how i get on.Its too late for tonight now but i would have done numbers 36 to 45.
I am only spending money i won, so am not losing anything. In case any whimperers out there say i am wasting my money.
Watch and see...
Fingers crossed MrBen
