Hi there,
Can anyone help us out please.
We have a laptop and want to go wireless.
We have bought a philips wireless networking starter kit.
Modem router.
We have attached all relevant cables etc.
We have inserted and run the cd rom and we select english on language menu and the router model and then a internet connection box comes up to connect to the net(to install from philips site we presume),then we click to connect to broadband and it will not connect.
Therefore cannot install the router.
Please help.Any ideas. We have been at this for 2 nights now and are fed up.
Pc world said it would be easy to install. So far it has been a pain.
HELP!
Many thanks for any replies.Much appreciated.
clare.

Is the wireless on your laptop switched on? Might sound like a daft question but I had the same problem and eventually found a small on/off switch on the front of my laptop (after someone on here told me about it)!
Hi,

You have to set up the router with a wire first before you can use it wirlessly - (not sure if you are wired up )

you will need the username and password for your isp provider - these will need to be entered into the router settings.

with the wire plugged in and the username/pwd entered it should connect to the internet.

Once the router connects to the internet, then you attempt to pull the wire out and try wirless connectivity
Yeah as previously said you will have to set up your router first with all your Internet Service Provider (ISP) settings. I'm not entirely sure what the CD rom is right enough.

You usually configure routers by going directly to the router's IP address. i.e key into your internet explorer 192.168.2.(then either 0,1 or 2). this will give you access to the set up page. Have you done anything like this?

You might also need to know before hand what some of your ISP's settings are. Get this from their website.

In my experience your average granny would probably know more about pc's than some PC World staff.
I would suggest you connect first using an Ethernet cable. I had so much trouble with my wireless connection probably due to picking up other wireless networks in my area I am now permanently connected with Ethernet. Once you have established a link with the router should have no further trouble and you can return to wireless if you want to.
Hi friend!
I suggest this link to you which is about wireless networking (wan) its all about wireless networking and I hope this will help you a lot.
