back from looking after my mums cat big ginge for the week, and ive had a lovely week watching the happy birds that inhabit my mums garden. thought i was a wood pigeon less on thursday as i came back from work to find a almost perfect print on the living room window of a woody, could even work out its beak imprint. couldnt find a corpse in the bushes so hopefully it survived its headlong crash with the window.,,,did count my usual gang of now 4 woodys so fingers crossed... while filling my tubs with a fresh bag of bird seed i spilt some and was watching blackie and his 2 kids hoovering them up, they still wanted dad to help feed them and my death wish starling now nick named bronson was up to his tricks of coming into the porch under the nose of a dozing mog, hes also come into the house via the door in the living room which opens straight into the garden, i'll get his picture one day.....if he lives that long that is......!! whats been happening with you all, ive missed the chat with being away from my computer.

Hi yogasun!

Baby kingfishers - how lovely is that. And the glow-worms - I have seen neither but would love to.

I was watching a programme on Longleat this morn whilst doing the boring ironing - and had to laugh at the dung beetle that does not like dung!!! He prefers soft fruit at the mo - they tried to tempt him with fresh dung (!) but to no avail!!! A vegetarian???

Nevertheless, he seems quite happy tho I think they are going to introduce a female to him to see how he goes - he may then change his mind!!!

I'm guessing its a repeat programme but made fascinating watching as I hadn't seen it before. :o)

i can just imagine your cheeky pup watching to check you're asleep and then trying to pinch the duvet without you noticing. :-)) oh yogasun would love to see kingfishers myself, they are beautiful birds. just read a post above mine about rescuing a mouse from the cats, i had to save one from margo this morning but the clever and very wise mouse had hidden itself under a insect shaped thing for pulling your boots off where a paw couldnt reach. i scooped it up and turfed it out where it sat washing its little face before running away.
My baby woodpecker was on the peanut feeder this morning, as were the blue and great tits. We get visited by a young grey squirrel, though, who nicks all the bird food - cheeky little blighter, I keep chasing him off, but he keeps coming back! I'll have to get the gun out soon....
My broody hen has hatched one chick and as I type another is trying desperately to get out of its egg - I hope it makes it. I'll go up to the stable & check in a mo'. Monty's still at the vets's and it's not the same round here without him.
hi all not a lot happening here we had a lovely big toad in the back porch friday morning i rescued him from a very interested cassie he then tried to climb in the raised pond but couldnt make it so got a large flower saucer from the greenhouse and filled that with pond water he got in that and sat for about 15 mins under the watchful eye of cassie then he wandered off into the garden by that time i had got the tortoise breakfast ready so then she had to oversee that , she has so much to do, when the pidgeons fly down into the garden they have to be sent packing no other birds have to be chased just the pidgeons, when my son got up the other morning at 3-45 to go to work there was a big deer in the paddock first 1 we have seen ,we have muntjacs but never had a big 1 before i told him if he see it again i want waking up so i can see it there was a mother and fawn on the road the other day a little way up the road which brought traffic to a halt for a few mins
