If any body has any information on how a 17 year old girl can get emancipated in the state of Arizona, please let me know!  I am in desperate need of getting out of my parents rule.  My dad drinks and beats me and smokes dope.  My mom is drunk even when she is at work and all she does is lie about it instead of trying to get help.  My dad has a bad anger and I am tired of wearing long sleaves and sunglasses 24/7.  Please help.  Should I stay or should I run?

You need proper help from people like these: http://child-abuse.com/ not from a free answer site like this.
I feel for you, it must be so awful living in fear of your dad like this.   I don't know anything about American / state laws that deal with this type of situation (I live in Britain) but i do know you need to talk to someone who can help you gat away from this terrible situation. What about confiding in a teacher that you trust?  He/she may be able to put you in touch with the right authority, and give you much needed support.  Running away may only make things worse - that's easy to say, though, i suppose, when you're not the one having to go through this every day.  What about staying with a friend, to get away from the situation while you try to sort things out, or would that make things even more difficult?  Please talk to someone, i really hope that you can get the help and support you need xxx :)

It must be terrible for you living in fear 24/7, and having answered your other other post recently you have a lot to deal with for someone of your age.

Finding someone to talk to in a new area is not easy so try these links.

http://www.childhelpusa.org/programs_hotline.htm

has a free helpline number.

http://www.childhelpusa.org/arizona/  Has links specifically for Arizona

They both deal with child abuse and would be able to give you help and advice for your state. As kaz35 has said is there anyone you trust that you can talk to or stay with even short term?

Please try the sites above as I am sure they can give you the help and support you need.

Good luck :-)

I passed on your posting to a child abuse website. According to Tom Hanna, Director of the Child Abuse Prevention Network
"This information varies from state to state in the USA, but
1. by and large, any child 16+ can earn "emancipated minor" status
2. the information is readily available by going to the local
Department of Social Services (or Family and Childrens Services, the
names vary as well.)"
