I went into my local supermarket yesterday and due to them moving a certain item from where they are generally shelved, I had to ask for assistance.
The first member of staff I asked, could not understand my request, because he could not speak English. I then asked another staff menber, in a different area of the store, you've guessed it, he also could not speak English.
Surely the need to speak the language should be the firsty qualification needed when attending an interview for a job where one deals with the public?
I persume that if an indigenous person had attended the same interview, he or she would have been asked the usual questions, what qualifications had they attained etc. Their general ability to answer the interviewer's questions would have also been essential, I would have thought.
It makes one wonder therefore, if foreign applicants are given preference over our own job seekers?

How can you say your freedom of speech is being infringed when you're quite happily expressing your views (and have been doing so for a long time)? You seem to see opposition to them as the same as supressing them. Doesn't this strike you as a little illogical?
I can't say I agree with sp's 'racist' argument, but I can see his point.
As an aside, can I say how interesting I find it that every thread relating to foreigners degenerates into exactly the same debate? It's really quite fascinating. You can count the stages.
