I downloaded anew version of iTunes tonight and added some new songs to my library.  I was also messing about with music files saved on my computer and deleted some, then restored them.  When I try to play songs in iTunes now I get a message saying that "the song...could not be used because the original file could not be found.  Would you like to locate it"  What have I done, can I fix it, and how do I back up music so I don't lose it again???

Thanks

hi maxd, all that message mean is that wherever the file was originally wheen you added it to the iTunes library that it isn't there now and therfore it can't be played. So when next time it comes up just go to yes and browse ur hardrive to find where the actual song file is and double click or press ok. The library should now be up to date wioth that song and the xclamation icon should be gone from the left of the song and you should be able to play it. Don't worry its nothing serious at all it always happens
to back up ur music go to the folder with all ur music highlight all of them and right click and dlcik copy, then paste them somewhere else on ur hardrive or prefereably on some portable medium
