I use excel a lot and edit previous sheets for new jobs. Just done two today - simple, couple of multiplication formulas, about twenty lines of text, one page, no links, no embedded items, should be 30kb ish. I found out when I tried to email it that it was more than 2mB - something crazy is happening though I can't find anything to account for that size of file. Had to save it as an excel binary file (whatever that is?) to get it anywhere near reasonable size for emailing? Help?

I know Word has a function to "track changes" and if this is turned on the file bloats because it remembers everything you do. I have seen it go mad so that every time the file was saved it doubled in size.

Excel might have the same feature. If this is the problem you need to find the track changes menu, turn off tracking and accept changes.

An immediate solution might be to use the clipboard to copy and paste what you can see into a new spreadsheet.
This MAY help.

When I get into that situation, I highlight the cells, and print them. Then I scan and save it as a picture, then e-mail it as a picture.

A bit drawn out, but it works.
