Hi,

My neighbours fence has become detached from its posts and now leans into my property. At the base, it remains attached, but at head height or above is encroaching into my space.

Can I do anything about this? My neighbour refuses to discuss it.

i had a problem regarding a neighbours fence recently so i sympathise with you over your selfish neighbour (im not bitter honest lol!). maybe you could remind him/her that legally it wouldnt be good if it were to fall on someone in your garden , or if you're too nice to say that then just try to nail it back up to the post ( did that myself at the start of my neighbour/fence conflict and in the end that was the only bit of the fence still standing)

Thanksk so much for your advice. The fence falling over and being a danger is a GREAT IDEA - Thank you again!!
Hi Jetski.

When you look out your back door, as you face down towards the rear of your garden is the fence on your right or left hand side ?

If it is on your RIGHT side then the onus is on you to replace, or repair.

If it is on your LEFT side then the onus is on your neighbour to replace or repair.

Neighbours are tricky mate, some are good, some are bad.

I waited for my neighbours to go on holiday, and pushed the fence into their garden, I then rang the Police and said I saw somebody in the neighbours garden at 3am, when the neighbour came back off holiday, he received a Police report letter, and I told him that I thought someone was trying to break in, and the fence was a security issue.

New fence put up in a week- job done.

Remember : It's not what you do, its how you do it !
