A week ago I noticed a bright red butterfly in my garden, when it landed it covered the bright red with black and white wings, black with white spots. It was really beautiful and not one that I have seen before. I know it is not a red admiral, but would love to know what it is.

Thanks

Thank you for looking but it isn't that. The wings are definitely black with white spots and the underneath is the most vivid red.
I know this isn't a butterfly, HJT40, but is the colouring anything near this Cinnabar Moth:

Could it be the Scarlet Tiger - look up UK Moths. Hope this helps, it's a beauty!
Easy to tell a butterfly from a moth the butterfly folds its wings upwards and the moth lays them downwards
