Is there a way I can configure a web counter to ignore my IP address? I have a blog, but it's a very new blog - or a very boring one - and I've only had a teensy amount of visitors. I want to be able to see clearly how many hits I've had, but I have to visit it occasionally to look at layout changes. I'm with amazingcounters.com - there's an option that says 'Unique Hits Only', but I don't want to cut out people that return, just me... is there any way to do this? I hope I've made this clear!!

You want to be looking at the unique hits anyway.

Short answer: if you have access to the code that the counter is programmed in, then yes, you can do this. However, your IP may very well change every day or few days (or even more often than that), so it may be pretty pointless anyway.

Blogs on Wordpress.com have a good stats package, that automatically stops counting you by seeing if you are logged into the blog as an admin (as you will be on your home computer). Perhaps if it's new, and you haven't used the URL anywhere, you change to wordpress...
