What would happen if a baby didn't come on it's due date and the mother was never induced?

Would there be health repercussions for both mother and child?

Thank you, Red :) x
Good point Red - placenta can fail at any point (my placenta on my second failed at 36 weeks) but the only reason they knew was because my waters broke full of blood!

As long as she keeps an eye on how much the baby moves (think the rule of thumb is 10 times a day)! Any less she should check with midwife!

Saying all this, I'm sure everything will be fine though and not many baby's come on time! x x x

I don't think she's worrying, it's jusy me being impatient LOL

Though I do find it strange that he would be engaged and raring to go, but he's not.
Aww Lakitu, I'm sure it won't be long now! You should have been related to me, waiting for mine. My first one was 4 weeks early and my second was 6 weeks early! Lol! x
first babies can be fully engaged for weeks before birth. I had contractions too for about 5 weeks before and they didn nothing because baby wasnt in right place to cause cervix to dilate.

i wouldnt go telling her what to do, but if she asks then there are old wives tales that do work and some that dont.

1) get on all fours as much as possible, and sit on a dining chair facin the back of it. This encourages baby into correct position and tilts the pelvis.

2) hot curries - chinese is best (worked for me)

3) sex- the hormone in sperm is same as the artificial one used as a pessary for induction. Taken orally is supposed to work better.

4) nipple tweaking, must be done for long periods of time, so perhaps something to do when watching tv in eves

5) hot baths

6) long walks or walking up and down stairs

7) clary sage oil, couple of drops in bath water can help stimulate the uterus

LOL Daffy! I wish I was!

Thank you for the tips, Red! I haven't said anything to her about it yet, but if she asks I'll let her know, I think I'll leave my brother to do 3 and 4 though!
