In the last 2 years or so I have noticed the veins in my leg have become very prominent. They aren't raised in any way but very purple and very enhanced, it looks very unsightly but more so worried if there is something wrong medically. I am 33 years old, relatively healthy, though could exercise more, do not smoke (although I used to but not heavily), eat well, not overweight but could do with losing a stone maybe. Does anyone have any possible explanation? Should I see my doctor?

From your description, they are NOT varicose veins, but what is known as Spider Veins which are a "leash" of small veins which are harmless. Causes? unknown, but could be due to prolonged standing or sitting, pregnancy. previous injury or perhaps purely genetic. No need to see your Dr. unless your are stil worried and they can be treated for cosmetic reasons.
