Strange spawn things - What are they?

After a a night of rainfall I noticed as I opened my front door to leave in the morning that a large number of egg/spawn like individual circular jelly with a black spot things were scattered everywhere. Thye looked just like frog spawn but larger and they all stood alone from each other. I live in London. Any ideas what they could have been?

a slug is a snail but it cannot afford a mortgage
