I have loved reading all Roddy Doyle's books, enjoyed Patrick McCabe's work (if not a bit weird) and thoroughly devoured all Neville Thompsons works. However I am really struggling to find more modern irish fiction in the same vein. Can anyone suggest any really good work set in Ireland, a bit of a thriller (although not too much gore). Any suggestions would be great thanks.

Hi, you could try
Tana French: In The Woods
The Gathering: Anne Enright ( Last years's Booker)

There are also a couple of bookstore that specialize in Irish fiction
www.hughesbooks.com
www.booksupstairs.co.uk
Also a publisher that even though they are mainly woman's fiction may have something
