When I had dial up modem I used download accelerater DAP to speed up downloads. I am now on broadband and was wondering if this program is no longer needed as it still comes up occassionly and downloads from 4 sources at once

download accelerators work by finding multiple sources of the file you are trying to download, as the internet is a maze of speed bottlenecks it is often faster to download files from several sources as you may not be able to get a fast connection to download the file from only 1 source.

some download managers / accelerators also allow to resume a failed download (for instance if the line drops and you get disconnected).

i also am on bb and have dap but more often than not it still speeds up the dl - definitely keep it !
