Wild orchids

Can anyone tell me if all wild orchids are protected please. I took my dog for a walk over the fields yesterday and saw one, the field is due to be cut back any day now and I wondered if I should tell someone it's there. Thank you.

Thank you so much for that - I was hoping I'd found something rare but by looking at your link I think it's a common spotted orchid. Not seen one before so it was a treat anyway. Thanks again.
