the morning after pill may make you have a bleed but it wont stop your proper period starting at the usual time. i would go get the normal pill pronto as you will be given prob a few mths course anyway and when it gets to the end of pack and your period is due just carry on taking the next pack. wont do you any harm if you only do it one mth. i used to do it as it was sods law that anytime i planeed to go away i was always due on, now had my 2 kiddies and have a coil fitted and rarely get a period.
There is a tablet your doc will prescribe. Take it for about a week before you go and during your hols.

Doc's have no probs in prescribing it so no worries there.

I took it last year when I went on hols and it def works but sorry can't remember what its called.

What does this pill do exactly?
if it just postspones periods im scared that it may cause pain or ...without going into detail.. discolouring.
I always feel sexier when I've just come off my period because.. lets just say that my Discharge is thinner
sorry about that being in-depth but it's really hard to elaborate without the detail
Yes it delays it and it maybe heavier when it eventually arrives!

I personally didn't notice any effects at all. No pains or any discharges etc.

My friend has also used it when she went on honeymoon and although I didn't ask, she never mentioned any ill effects.

All I can say is that I would definately take it again. It done the job and i was no worse for it after.

Ask your docs advice if you are unsure

Poison Ivy's right - your doctor can prescribe something to delay things until you've had your holiday.

thankyou everyone so far, you've all been really helpful :)
anyone else with alternative ideas is welcome to add!
but thankyou to the above people, because it is a bit of a sensitive subjects and i was left a little confused as i have no mother to speak to about it.
There really isn't anything else you can do hun, unless you were on the pill - and it's not something which your doctor'd keep on prescribing, but I'm surre he'd do it for you on this occasion.
5487, the pill is called Norethisterone and you take 3 a day about 3 or 4 days before your period is due. You take it for as long as you need it (not sure if there is a limit) then you get your period about 2 or 3 days after you stop taking it.
I took it recently and got my period more or less the day after I stopped taking it. The nurse prescribed me 30 tablets which was 10 days worth. I had no side effects at all. Bear in mind it isn't contraception though so you'll obviously still need protection. Have fun on your holiday!
