Hi guys. I've been watching shows like American hotrod, Chop-shop, and overhauled for some time now, and I would really like to know how to go about doing that as a living. I'm guessing that you first need to do mechanics in which case I'm going to be looking at possible apprenticeships. And that brings me to another question. How much should be looking at take home per week (pay) for mechanic/welder? (I'm also looking at taking courses in Mig and Tig welding)!
Thanks to any help offered, Tom.

How old are you? The usual wages for an Apprentice are 80 per week but you may find a generous employer that will pay a bit more.

I'm 24 years old. I've been told that I can be offered apprenticeships up to 190 per week since I last posted my question. Thing is, do I approach the garage, Collage, or both for the apprenticeship?
I recommend you apply (in person) to garages. Employers prefer to see and talk to an applicant! Call on all the garages in your area, more chance of scoring a hit!

Dont tell them you want to make hot-rods...stick to the mechanics....the hot-rods dream will come once you've mastered mechanics. Good luck
