I know cream lillies are generally funeral flowers.

Cold you ask the family if the deceased had a favourite flower or colour and personalise them?
that's a good idea from sally, but i don't honestly think it matters if the family haven't made any particular requests. maybe keep it to traditional flowers if it's an older person's funeral, and more modern and bright for a younger person?
If it's this time of year Irises are nice. Lilies can be a bit perfumed in a small space. Have you tried googling funeral flowers?
I'd go for white or cream and elegant with some refined greenery (thin leaves I'd say), preferably tall in a tall thin vase.

Maybe some tulips if you can get any this time of year or lilies or roses.
I wouldn't use lilies on small table arrangements (too big and too much pollen). It depends how much you want to spend. I would probably use spray carnations (possibly pink/white for a lady,yellow/white for man. You could use sweet williams. If you want to spend more use roses or alstroemeria, things like that. Use lots of foliage, different shaped leaves, different colours even some variagation.
you could also include a few sprigs of rosemary as it signifies remembrance.
When my dear Aunt died a friend gave me a peace lilly in a white pot & I place it beside a photo of her on a table at the reception afterwards.
. It looked wonderful with its delicate pointed leaves & long thin stems with the tiny white flower at the end. Not at all overpowering.
It came from Waitrose & only cost about 8.
Lily of the valley goes very well with it & is eminently suitable for funerals as the flowers are very simple but scented.
probably too late now but here goes ...At an aunts funeral last year they had put a SMALL pot plant on each table, bizzy lizzie or that type of thing..Each one had a table doily round the pot Like a frill tied with thin ribbon.Think they might have cut a cross in the centre of the doily and eased it over the pot, They looked great all in pink Aunties favourite colour..They were given to special friends and neighbours afterwards...
