We are going to Florida for Christmas Does anyone know much on the Visa System my husband had a criminal record when he was 16 yrs old and was in borstal, he is now 43 yrs old does he still need to apply for a visa, cause he said he is going to take a chance, but my little girl will be heartbroken if they put him back on the plane home.

He doesn't need to 'take a chance'. Juvenile delinquency (under 18) is not moral turpitude and therefore he can tick the 'no' box on the form quite truthfully.
No, just get on the plane. They give you a visa waiver form to fill out. Just do as dzug says.
