Abortion, I never knew!!!

I was seriously shocked and disturbed today after reading an article in my paper about how (an abortion) is performed.
I never in the past thought about it to much, (being a bloke) and thought a girl/women just went to the clinic, was given an inducing jab and the foetus just came out and that was it. (Please forgive me for that Ladies).
I didn't realize that an injection is given to the foetus/baby to kill it before the abortion.
I phoned my daughter who has been a nurse in a children's intensive care unit, and now a health visitor for some advice and info.
She told me that she had helped deliver/nursed 3 babies in the past that were only 22/23/24 weeks when born and all survived.

As the columnist rightly said in her article, the vote by our MPs last week, mainly Men, has been kept to 24 weeks, something is terribly wrong?

The injection needed is only to stop the heart in later pregnancies. Most health authorities wont give a TOP for social reasons past 16 weeks. SO this rule is void. YOu can actually have a termination of pregnancy at any stage in the pregnancy if their is proof the either the mother will either be at great risk mentally or physically.

Abortion isn't an easy choice either way no matter what stage of pregnancy you are in. I had a termination at 16 weeks and 1 day. It wasn't the nicest experience of my life by a long shot. I informed my NHS service that I wanted a termination at 6 weeks, I also told them I wanted a medical termination but the quickest I could get into the clinic was 4 weeks later. I got pregnant whilst using dianette and steroids for asthma so continuing with the pregnancy was out of the question. MY appointment for termination was held back because I couldnt travel to BRighton, 200 miles away and my consultant was on holiday. Apparently a consultant ahd to perform the procedure as I was asthmatic.

The best thing this country could do is to run more clinics to give girls the option to have an early medical termination. It would cost less money and be far less physically traumatic to the girls/women in question.

The old babies can survive at 22 weeks, hold no water with me. It takes a lot of medical intervention to help a baby born at 32 weeks survive let alone one at 22/23/24 weeks. Not to mention the physical and mental developmental problems these children have.
