what charity is it that collects your used holiday cards to recycle and benefit the charity?

I know in Australia Planet Ark do this every year, I think they do it here too. You can also drop off old cards at WHSmith and Tesco for The Woodland Trust.

In the US the Lions Club used to collect used Christmas cards, don't know if they still do.
