Was in my neighbours house recently. His father had died months before. His dog was lying on the floor in front of the fire very relaxedly...suddenly he jumped up and looked at the door and then around the room. I asked my friend what was up...my friend told me that that is what he usually does when someone enters the room....and then went on to say that he always did this when his father was coming into the room....got a bit of a cold shiver at the thought of perhaps his fathers spirit visiting the house.... any one else have similar experiences with their animals in their houses?

Not quite the same ghostly wise, but I had two nice cats that were the best of friends, but in the course of time one of them died. The one left wandered around howling for its friend for a bit then calmed down.

However, quite often it would pause at the top of the stairs and look longingly at the hatch for the loft and howl. It seemed to think that's whwere its friend had gone. This puss had never been up in the loft, and as I don't have a ladder, I never go up there. Not scary, quite cute in a way. This puss never stopped thinking about its friend as the longing looks and meows continued for the rest of its life.

.

I reckon the dog is pining for his master.

Jumping up, looking at the door and around the room was something the dog did when his master entered the room; and the dog will assosiate doing it with his master entering the room; and therefore thinks that if he carries on doing it then his master will eventually enter the room.

Dogs don't give up easily.

If the dog had seen the human when he was dead he would understand better and it would help him deal with his bereavement.

this is normal behaviour animals can see spirit,,,often you will see a dog or cat just staring when you look their is nothing their,,,if the dog in question was very devoted to his master then its a unseen link between them the master will just be visiting,,often you find things like this happening at birthdays..anniversarys..family get togethers,,and the day of passing spirit that have departed tend to draw in then to be with their loved ones to watch them have a good time to be with them when they are sad and generally try to lift their spirits,,,i will tell you a true story that i have witnesses to ,,our dog died and he was a marvelouse guard dog ,,anyway i bought another and my husband had to go away on a course and one of his friends dropped round to see if i was okay so i said well this dog isnt going to be much use if i get burglars,,at that moment the door flew open the new dog ran behind the settee and my husbands friend ran out the door as he was terrified...it was my old faithfull dog come back to protect the home while husband was away..dogs and cats are a lot more psychic than us as they are not immersed in the material world,,,gypsy

i have alwaya had dogssince i was young and being spiritual and 'visited' myself i do believe dogs and other animals are more tuned in with spirits. my dog used to wag her tail at the wall!! in the same spot, we were only in that house a short while but i had the feeling of a cheerfull person/spirit who wanted to have a laugh. i was happy whenever i was in that room and 'they' were there. i later found out it as a friends great granny who had passed away there and that she was a character!! spooky. i'v had other experiences like this, too many to mention.
My neighbour has had several cats during her life.  A few years ago she was very ill in hospital & one morning the lady in the bed opposite said she'd seen a cat, which she described, lying on my neighbours tummy in the night.  It was just like a cat that she'd once had, & that was what it used to do.

Just remembered something else about this family, the father died a couple of years ago and on the day of the funeral a cat turned up at the house and sat on the outside window legde of the front room and wouldn't go away .... the daughter started to feed it and some think  that she believes its her father come to watch over his family.... I know its more than a bit iffy but I just cant dismiss the possiblity......

My friend had a cat when younger who passed away before the birth of her younger sister.  Well her younger sister, who never met the cat, would always giggle and call "miow!" when ever she was near the top of the stairs, the cats favourite lounging spot. She did this until she about three. noone knows why!
