Do they take a percentage of it off you? Say you put in 25 of copper, do you get 25 back?
how much did they charge?
Question Author
They take 10%
Wouldn't it be better to take it to the bank in that case?
i suppose if you want the ease of not having to count it and bag it yourself its not so bad.
True.

When I get a load, I give it to my girlfriend's kids to count and bag up then let them keep most of the 1p coins.

squarebear i am not going to spend time counting out that amount of coppers and bagging them, then carrying them to the bank dont have transport either and not going to knacker my back dragging them to the bank, for a 10% fee!
What take it to the bank so they can moan at you, have you taken change in a bank recently, you might as well take MSRA in there for how popular you are. 10% bite the bullet.
I'm sure the machines in Sainsbury's + Asda only take 7%.
the tesco one i am sure asks you if you want to donate or not
Just use the machine. Or have loads of old chnage hanging rund your place.
How do they work? On weight? Only could i not make some similar sized and weghted pound coins without going to the trouble of actually forging one. Not that i ever would you umderstand but just a thought
My bank does not charge (Natwest) although they do ask if you have an account there. When my boys were little we used to take bags of 2ps to the amusment arcade on the penny falls. And no, they have not grown up to be gamblers!

I personally dont like taking them to the bank, cos the looks of contempt by the people queuing behind is enough to put me off, even if they have a automatic counter, sometimes it takes a while to get it all sorted!
