my laguna is struggling to climb hills in 4th gear and the handbrake light keeps coming on?? any ideas

by the way the handbrake is off when this happens.

even on a flat road it shdders when i put it in 4th gear.............last time this happend i had to have a couple of valves replaced about 6months ago.
