and then goes into a field without being fed, do they hunt? Can they hunt? Or is it to late to learn?

Yes, yes and no.
It's never to late to learn. Animals are born with natural hunting instincts.
And they will hunt even if they have been fed.
My cat brings in live mice often. She is very well fed.

This is a serious answer - Growing up our dogs and cats always ate the same foods we ate. Special foods were never bought for them. They always ate home-cooked.
