We're going to Cornwall at the end of the month and reckon the journey will take around 6 hours. We have a three year old daughter and want to break the journey at least twice, maybe three times. Once we get past birmingham, where are the good places to stop for a break? We'd like to avoid the usual identikit motorway service areas.

Why not visit Noah's Ark Zoo Farm on your way to Cornwall? It's very close to the M5 (just past Bristol), so it doesn't add any significant distance to your journey. There's a caf (and, of course, toilets) but, more importantly, your daughter will love it and (because it's worth spending some time there), you'll get a proper break from driving, rather than the short rest that most people take at service stations:

Have a look at one or two of these sites, they should be able to give you ideas of where are good places to stop.
