In the Sontaran battle in Dr Who,I must have missed it somewhere, but how come the UNIT soldiers were able to fight back against the Sontarans,as their guns wouldn't work at first.
They just suddenly were able to shoot back at them.
Can anybody tell me? I'll be very grateful for the answer.
Thanks.

(I think) that when the mist/smoke lifted, Their bullets were no longer 'frozen' in the gun barrels...

Aaaahhh! Yes, of course!
You could well be right there GEEMAC!
Never thought of that.Doh!
It was actually a bit cleverer than that. The suppression field the Sontarans had used worked on the copper of the bullets to prevent them firing. UNIT changed to steel jacketed weaponry which was unaffected by the Sontaran suppression field.

For a warlike race that revels in battle and honour, seems a bit cowardly to me to deprive you prospective enemy of the ability to fight back :)
Well spotted lazygun. Sometimes I find there is too much dialogue to take it all in with one viewing.

Did you also notice when the brigadeer/general of UNIT had the main Sontaran in his sights, he told him to turn around so as not to shoot him in the back. How very British!
Why did the UNIT people salute when not wearing hats? Isn't that against British military policy?

Well spotted LazyGun!I didn't actually see that happen!
I also agree with GEEMAC,that there's too much dialogue to take in with just one viewing.
