Hi, At the bottom of your Log Book there is a section that states Transfer of sale, sign in the box, Date, the new owner will then fill in the rest.
they will probably say that they will do all the paper work, don't trust them! Send the slip off yourself or you'll be getting someone elses parking tickets!
you need to give them the V5C part of the log book paper, get them to sign the bottom of the bit you keep,or if its a big dealer, there is a part to sign, just for traders etc, also hand books and all service books and receipts etc.
if you trade your car in,send off the section headed"transfer to motor trade" this will have your name taken off the dvla computer as the registered keeper.pass the rest of the v5c to the trader, after you have signed and dated the bottom.
